Sooji Halwa

Ingredients:

  • Sooji - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 1/2 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Dried Fruits (almonds, cashewnuts and raisins) - 1/2 cup
  • Saffron - optional

Method:

  • In a pan, add ghee and saute the dried fruits on a very low heat to a slightly brown colour and remove from pan
  • Add sooji and fry it on a low flame till it changes to brown
  • Add sugar and mix
  • Immediately add water to avoid lumps
  • Add saffron dissolved in water
  • Add salt
  • When all the water is absorbed, put off the flame and cover it with lid for few minutes
