Ingredients:
  • Chicken - 1/2 kg
  • Bay leaf - 1
  • Onion - 1, medium, finely sliced
  • Yoghurt - 1/2 cup
  • Khoya - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Oil/Ghee
For making the paste:
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cinnamon - 1/2 inch
  • Black peppercorns - 2
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tsp
  • Melon seeds - 1 tsp
  • Poppy seeds - 1 tsp
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Kashmiri chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
Method:
  • Marinate the chicken pieces with yoghurt and keep aside for 30 minutes
  • In a blender add all the ingredients mentioned under the paste along with little water and blend to a smooth paste
  • In a kadhai, heat oil and ghee and add the cashew nuts. Fry for few seconds and remove
  • In the same oil/ghee add bay leaf and fry for few seconds
  • Add onions and fry till golden brown in colour
  • Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook till all water evaporates
  • Add the paste to the chicken and cook till oil separates
  • Add khoya and stir
  • Add salt and 1 cup of water and cook till chicken is done
  • Garnish with fried cashews and serve
