Chicken Kofta Curry

For Koftas:
Minced chicken - 1/2 kg
Garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp, roasted
Black pepper powder - a pinch
Green chillies - 4, finely chopped and crushed
Coriander leaves - 1 small bunch
Salt - to taste
For Gravy:
Onions - 1, finely sliced
Cardamoms - 2
Cloves - 2
Bay leaf - 1
Cinnamon sticks - 1/2 inch
Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
Tomato - 1, peeled and finely chopped
Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp, roasted
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Kashmiri red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - to taste
Coriander leaves - chopped, for garnishing
Oil
Method:
Mix all the ingredients required for the koftas and make into balls and refrigerate for about 30 minutes
Shallow fry them in a very little oil in a non-stick pan and keep aside
For the gravy, heat oil in a kadhai. Add cardamom, clove, bay leaf and cinnamon stick. Let it crackle
Add the onions and fry till golden brown. Remove and blend it in the mixer
Now put the blended onions back in the oil, add ginger garlic paste
Add the tomatoes and cook for few minutes
Mix the garam masala powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, red chilli powder and salt with little water
and add it to the gravy and saute till oil separates
Add water. Once it comes to a boil, reduce the heat to low and gently add the fried kababs
Cover and simmer on low heat to cook the kababs through
Every once in a while, open the pot and gently swirl everything together
Once the kababs are fully cooked adjust salt and gravy
Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve!!!
