Gulab Jamuns

After my recipe of Kaala Jamuns got published in the Times of India - Whitefield Edition, I decided to treat myself by making these yummy gulab jamuns!!!
Ingredients:
Milk powder - 1 cup
All-purpose four - 2 tsp
Semolina/Sooji - 2 tsp
Baking powder - 1/4 tsp
Milk - 5 tbsp or as required
Butter - 3 tsp
Oil - for frying
Sugar - 1 cup
Water - 1 cup
Lemon juice - few drops
Cardamoms - 2
Method:
In a pan add water, sugar, cardamom and lemon juice. Bring to a boil for few minutes
Remove from heat and stir till sugar dissolves. Keep it aside
Seive all the dry ingredients and mix well
Add the butter and mix
Add milk little by little and mix into a crumbly texture. Do not knead
Cover and refrigerate for about 10 minutes
Grease your palm and make small smooth balls out of it
In a kadhai, heat oil on medium high and stir
Reduce the flame to low, add the balls, few at a time and keep stirring the oil till it changes to golden brown on medium heat. Remove
Add the fried jamuns to sugar syrup and let it soak for about 15-20 minutes
Serve plain or garnished with chopped cashews or almonds
