Masaledar Fish Curry

Fish - 1/2 kg, washed properly and marinated for 30 minutes with 1/2 tsp each of salt and turmeric
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 tsp
Onion -1 medium, finely sliced
Tomato - 1 small, finely chopped
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste
Oil
For making masala paste:
Garlic - 5-6 cloves
Dried red chillies - 2, deseeded
Black pepper - 2-3
Cardamom - 2
Cloves - 3
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Coriander seeds - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Method:
In a non stick pan, shallow fry the marinated fish pieces till light golden brown on both sides. Keep aside
In a kadhai, heat oil and splutter the fenugreek seeds
Add the onions and saute till golden brown in colour
Meanwhile prepare the masala paste by adding little water using all the ingredients required for making the masala paste
Add this mixture to fried onions
Add turmeric powder and salt and saute till oil separates, add water if required
Add the tomato and cook covered till it is fully mashed up
Add enough water and let it come to a boil
Add the fried fish pieces and simmer till done
Serve hot with roti/rice
