Mini Black Forest Gateau

This time it was a long weekend in Bangalore due to Raj Utsav Day on Friday. Usually this happens very rare that a public holiday falls on this day, but whenever it does, I make it a point to perform Jumah Prayers in Mosque, have a hearty lunch in Hotel Empire, roam the commercial street and finally return home dead tired. Saturday and Sunday, were spent strolling in various malls, so finally I was free today and made this Black Forest Gateau. I made it mini, coz of two reasons, first, if the taste didn't come out well, its only me who has to eat the entire stuff and secondly if it is a complete disaster, the entire thing will be dumped in the garbage which I do with a heavy heart. The Gateau did turn well as it was received positively by Amaan....
Mini Black Forest Gateau

Ingredients:
Mug cake - 1
Sugar syrup - few spoons
Whipping cream - a good dollop
Plain chocolate - grated


Method:
Prepare the mug cake using the recipe in the link Instant 3-Minutes Chocolate Cup Cake

Remove and set aside for 10-15 minutes for it to cool down

Then slice the cooled cake horizontally into 3 layers

Prepare the sugar syrup using the method mentioned in this link How to Make Sugar Syrup in Microwave

Place all the layers on a chopping board and sprinkle sugar syrup evenly on each piece

Prepare the whipping cream, I bought the readymade whipping sachet and prepared according to the instructions

Now place one piece of cake on a saucer or whichever plate you want to serve and spread whipping cream evenly on it

Place the 2nd layer of cake over it and repeat, finishing with the third layer on top

Now cover the entire piece of cake including the sides with the whipping cream

Spread the grated chocolate all over

Keep the cake in the fridge, minimum for an hour to get the best taste

Sing 'Happy Birthday to You' song (as Amaan did, hahaha)and cut it

Serve!!!





Notes:
You can use cherry syrup instead of plain sugar syrup
You can also sprinkle chopped cherries in between each layer and garnish with cherries on top (I'm not a cherry lover, so I didn't use any)
