Haryali Chicken

Ingredients:

For marination:
  • Chicken - 1/2 kg
  • Chopped fresh coriander, with stems - 1/2 cup
  • Mint leaves - 1/2 tbsp
  • Garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
  • Fresh cream or coconut cream - 1/2 tbsp
  • Green chillies  - to taste
  • Yoghurt - 1/4 cup
Other ingredients:
  • Oil - 1/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cardamom pods - 2
  • Onions, chopped - 1
  • Ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic paste - 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli, slit - 1
  • Coconut cream or fresh cream - 1/4 cup
Method:
  • Marinate the chicken in the green paste made out of the ingredients mentioned in the marination
  • Heat the oil, add the cumin seeds and the cardamom pods and let them splutter
  • Add the onions and fry till golden brown
  • Add ginger garlic paste, fry for a few seconds and add only the chicken pieces
  • Cook on high heat for about 5 minutes, then lower the heat
  • Add the marinade, 1 tsp salt and the coriander and cumin powders
  • Cover and cook for about 10-15 minutes on low, then add the green chilli and adjust water if needed
  • Once the chicken is about done, add in the cream and adjust salt
  • Simmer together on low heat for about 3 minutes
  • Haryali chicken is ready to be served!!!
