Shahi Tukda/Double ka Meetha

  • Milk - 1 ltr
  • Bread - 4 slices, each slice cut into 4 triangles/squares
  • Sugar - 1 cup
  • Ghee - 1/2 cup
  • Water - 1/2 cup
  • Saffron - 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Cardamom - 2
  • Almonds and pistachios - chopped


  • To make rabri, boil the milk on medium heat till it reduces to 1/4 quantity. Keep stirring continuously. Then add sugar and cardamoms. Once the sugar dissolves and the milk comes to a boil, take off the heat and let it cool for 5 minutes
  • Make sugar syrup by boiling half cup sugar in half cup water. Add 1/2 tsp saffron. Keep on stirring till the sugar dissolves and water comes to a boil. Simmer for 2 minutes. Then take off heat and put in a bowl
  • In a pan, add ghee and shallow fry the bread pieces till it turns light brown in colour
  • Dip both the sides of the bread pieces in sugar syrup i.e., for about half a minute and place it in a serving plate
  • Pour over the rabri, just before serving. Garnish with sliced almonds and pistachios
